Girls In Airports
95 Effra Rd, London, SW2 1DF
Description
Girls in Airports is a Danish ensemble known for its immersive and transformative live performances. Their instrumental sound moves fluidly between jazz, ambient and folk traditions, yet resists genre — shaped by a long-term, collective practice that values curiosity, cultural openness and the slow craft of making music together.
At the core of the group is a distinctive instrumentation: vintage keys, saxophone, and a wide spectrum of global percussion. The iconic warmth of Mathias Holm’s Wurlitzer, sculpted through analogue pedals, blends with Victor Dybbroe’s evolving palette of worldly textures and rhythms, creating a living ground for the music. Over this, the saxophone voice and compositions of Martin Stender lean toward the spiritual — at times serene and spacious, at others ecstatic and improvisational.
