DEPLOYED & UNSUPERVISED Raised by Orders, Ruined by Freedom
30 Stamford St, London, SE1 9LQ
Description
Up-and-coming London comedian and former frontline soldier Dean Helliwell hails from Cumbria and delivers a brutally honest hour about growing up in the North.
Blending dark storytelling with sharp observational comedy, Dean explores military life, including his time on the frontline in Afghanistan, political absurdities, and the surreal shock of civilian existence — all through the eyes of someone trained for extreme environments but wildly unprepared for everyday life.
Expect sudden left turns, physical chaos, and stories that begin sensibly before veering wildly off course. Moments of uncomfortable honesty sit alongside true stories that escalate far beyond where they should have stopped.
