Theatre of Voices: The Tree of Life
Kings Place, London, N1 9AG
Description
Theatre of Voices make a welcome return to Kings Place, performing the premiere of a Kings Place commission of Julia Wolfe, alongside works by Nigel Osborne and Arvo Pärt.
Embodying “undivided devotion to the musical material,” the Grammy Award–winning vocal ensemble Theatre of Voices is a go-to collaborator for many of today’s most visionary composers. In this performance we’ll hear the UK-premiere of a Kings Place commission by the category-defying Julia Wolfe; one of Arvo Pärt’s earliest examples of tintinnabuli, Missa syllabica, and the London Premiere of Nigel Osborne’s titular work – featuring Syrian oud player, Rihab Azar – inspired by Osborne’s work in Lebanon with Syrian children in refugee camps.
