Pitchblack Playback's Best Albums Of 2023 album listening sessions in the dark series continues with a double-header featuring two of rap's most unusual, innovative and bizarre performers who served up two excellent and very different albums in 2023.

First up, Doja Cat's weirdo-rap opus 'Scarlet', thick with bass and tongue-in-cheek asides that assert her as one of the most singular artists in hip-hop/R&B. Then Lil Yachty's superb left-turn into Pink Floyd / Tame Impala / Toro Y Moi style pysch rock, 'Let's Start Here.' (Rolling Stone's #4 Album Of 2023, no less).
