Alan Carr: Regional Trinket
Myton St, Hull, HU1 2PS
Description
Not again, Alan!
Boasting one of the most distinctive laughs in the country, Alan Carr has deservedly risen from his big break as one half of a Friday-night Channel 4 double act to a national comedy institution.
Born in Dorset and raised in Northampton, it was after he moved to Chorlton-cum-Hardy and became a fixture on the Manchester comedy scene that Carr’s career began to blossom. A win at the BBC New Comedy Awards set the wheels firmly in motion, leading to a seat on the couch for Channel 4’s The Friday Night Project, alongside Justin Lee Collins. Carr’s mix of risqué comments and boyish exuberance made him an instant hit with viewers.
All the while, Carr maintained his profile as a stand-up. His 2007 UK tour Tooth Fairy Live went on to become a best-selling DVD, and was followed a year later by his first autobiography Look Who It Is!
Carr is also a regular on TV panel shows, standing in occasionally as a team captain on 8 Out Of 10 Cats and in dictionary corner on Countdown. He’s also appeared on Never Mind The Buzzcocks and regularly embraces the international humiliations dished out on tour with A League Of Their Own. In 2019, he became a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
In 2021, Carr announced his first tour in five years. Entitled Regional Trinket, it charted Alan's highs (his glitzy, celeb-athon of a wedding) to the lows (the sheer horror of spending lockdown on a farm).
