Sheffield, 1939. With war declared, three brave women step up and do their bit to keep the foundry fires burning. Housewife Nancy works at Vickers steelworks to put food on the table for her children. Betty’s sweetheart has joined the RAF Reserves so she gives up studying law to play her part and shop girl Patty has to grow up quickly doing dangerous factory work. A heartwarming wartime saga about love, friendship and bravery. Michelle Rawlins is the author of Women of Steel, based on the real life experiences of Sheffield women in WW2, and teaches Journalism at the University of Sheffield.
